This case involves a Yamaha YZF-R1 motorcycle that was stolen from Norfolk, VA, on a recent Tuesday. The bike was recovered the very next day along with the suspected thief- thanks to the great work of local law enforcement, with help from the LoJack® system.

On June 17th, 2014, the Yamaha’s owner contacted the Norfolk Police Department to report that their motorcycle was stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack unit concealed in the YZF-R1, which was installed at Ride Now Powersports in Port Richey, FL, was then automatically activated.

A short while later, detectives from the Hampton Police Department picked up the silent homing signals from the stolen bike on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The Yamaha was found at a private residence on Harlan Court in Hampton. A suspect was arrested at the scene, and the YZF-R1 was retrieved and soon returned to its elated owner.
