The LoJack® for Classics System Helps Tulsa County, Oklahoma Sheriff’s Department Recover Stolen 1987 Chevy El Camino
Classic car owners are like proud new parents- they take excellent care of their ‘babies’, worry when they’re not with their vehicles, and protect them any way they can. That is why there is a special version of the LoJack® system just for these vehicles- LoJack for Classics- which is self-powered and doesn’t interfere with the integrity of the car’s interior. In this case, a 1987 Chevrolet El Camino is stolen from its owner’s residence and recovered quickly and safely by local law enforcement assisted by LoJack.

On June 2nd, 2014, the Chevy’s owner contacted the Tulsa Police Department. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the El Camino, which was installed at Lexus of Thousand Oaks, CA.

A short while later, a deputy with the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Department picked up the silent homing signal from the stolen El Camino with the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol car. The deputy quickly located the Chevy in a rural area of Tulsa County, where it was parked and unoccupied behind a barn. The El Camino, valued at $6,000, was found to be in good condition and was returned to a grateful owner. Suspects were identified and charges are pending in this case.
