This case involves a Suzuki GSX-R600 motorcycle taken from its owner’s home in Tacoma, WA. The bike’s owner chose to protect his asset with the LoJack® system when he purchased it. That proved to be an excellent decision. With LoJack’s help, local police were able to recover the motorcycle, without damage, later that same day.

When the theft was discovered on April 22nd, 2014, it was reported to the Tacoma Police Department. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the GSX-R600, which was installed at Paulson’s Suzuki in Lacey, WA.

Just minutes later, Tacoma police officers and a University Place PD officer received the silent homing signals from the stolen motorcycle on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The Suzuki was located inside the garage of a private home. The homeowner had no idea the vehicle was in the garage and allowed police inside. Adjacent to the machine was a note informing the owners who left the bike there and “hoped it was not an inconvenience”. The writer was later arrested for the theft. The undamaged GSX-R600 was retrieved and soon returned to its relieved owner.
