Montvale, New Jersey Police Recover Yamaha YZF-R6 Motorcycle Stolen from New York with Help from the LoJack® System

In this case, a Spring Valley, NY resident had her Yamaha YZF-R6 motorcycle stolen from her backyard. Her bike was located in a locked shed in a wooded yard in another state- New Jersey. Thanks to the LoJack® system that was installed when the Yamaha was purchased, police were able to locate it without being able to see it, and return the bike to her quickly and safely.
On March 18th, 2014, the Yamaha’s owner reported the crime to the Spring Valley Police. Officers verified the theft and entered the motorcycle information into the NYSPIN and NCIC state and federal crime computers. This action automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the YZF-R6, which was installed at New York Motorcycle in Queens Village, NY.
A short while later, New York State Police officers picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen bike on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers followed the signal to an open wooded yard in Montvale, NJ, and contacted local authorities. Montvale Police retrieved the YZF-R6 from a locked shed on the property and soon returned it to its extremely happy owner.
