When a Dodge Ram 2500 diesel truck was stolen in Colorado Springs, CO, the thieves thought they were being clever by hiding the truck in a locked storage unit. They weren’t counting on the LoJack® system that was installed when the truck was purchased. With LoJack’s help, local police were able to locate not only the storage facility but the actual unit the Ram was in, and return it to its owners quickly, safely and without any damage.

On March 15th, 2014, the Dodge’s owners contacted Colorado Springs Police to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Ram, which was installed at Larson Dodge in Puyallup, WA.

A short while later, troopers with the Colorado State Patrol picked up the homing signals from the stolen truck on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The Troopers located the Dodge at a rental storage business in Colorado Springs, and requested assistance from the BATTLE Auto Theft Task Force. The Ram was found inside a locked unit, with its license plate and some contents removed, but otherwise undamaged. The owners were thrilled to have their vehicle returned to them.
