It was a cold Thursday morning when the Severn, MD residents in this case discovered their Mercedes Benz CLS500 had been stolen overnight. The LoJack® system installed in the Benz helped local police recover the car in just over four hours after activation.

On January 23rd, 2014, the owner of the Mercedes contacted the Anne Arundel County Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the CLS500, which was installed at Herb Gordon Mercedes Benz in Silver Spring, MD.

A short while later, patrol officers from the District of Columbia Metropolitan PD picked up the homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers located the Mercedes on 47th Street NE in Washington, DC. A suspect sitting inside the Benz was placed under arrest. The undamaged CLS500 was retrieved and soon returned to its grateful owner.
