This case involves a Kawasaki ZX6 motorcycle stolen overnight from its owner’s residence. Thanks to the LoJack® system installed on the bike, local police not only recovered it that same day but also apprehended the thief, who was wanted for posting videos on You Tube taunting police to catch him and demonstrating dangerous motorcycle operation using a helmet camera.

On February 17th, 2014, the Kawasaki’s owner contacted the San Antonio Police Department and reported that his motorcycle was stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the ZX6, which was installed at Alamo Cycle Plex in San Antonio, TX.

A short while later deputies from Bexar Sheriff’s Department and officers from San Antonio PD picked up the homing signals from the stolen motorcycle on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers located the Kawasaki in a residential area, where they found it hidden behind trash containers at a private home. The suspect ran out the back door of the home but was soon apprehended. The ZX6 was retrieved and soon returned to its very happy owner.
