This case involves a Kia Sportage that was stolen in Colorado and recovered the same day, thanks to local law enforcement assisted by the LoJack® system.

On January 14th, 2014, the Kia’s owners contacted the Adams County Sheriff to report that their vehicle was stolen. Deputies verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Sportage, which was installed at Automotive Avenues in Lakewood, CO.

A short while later, officers from several police agencies (Arvada, Adams County, Westminster, Federal Heights, Colorado State Patrol and Denver) were picking up the homing signals from the stolen SUV on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles.  The Kia was located being driven in a reckless manner through Denver. After a short pursuit, the Sportage was found parked and abandoned in a public parking garage.  Police retrieved it and soon returned it to its grateful owners.
