When the Southern California residents in this case decided to take a road trip to Las Vegas recently, they might have expected to lose a little cash at the slot machines or gaming tables.  It was a big surprise when they discovered their Honda Civic missing from their hotel parking garage. It’s a good thing they didn’t gamble when they purchased their car. They had the LoJack® system installed, which assisted local law enforcement in recovering their vehicle in less than two and a half hours after activation.

On December 23rd, 2013, the Honda’s owners immediately contacted the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. Officers verified the theft and entered the stolen vehicle information into the NCIC Stolen Vehicle System. This procedure automatically activated the hidden LoJack unit in the Civic, which was installed at Villa Mazda in Hemet, CA.

A short while later, officers with the LVMP began picking up the homing signal from the stolen car with the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers quickly tracked the Honda to a row of detached garages in a large apartment complex. Detectives from the Southern Nevada Auto Theft Task Force aka VIPER arrived to assist and retrieved the undamaged Civic from a locked garage. The owners were very grateful to have their vehicle returned so quickly.
