The New York based owner of the Honda Civic in this case was glad he had the LoJack® system installed when he purchased his vehicle. When it was stolen recently while parked near his Manhattan home, LoJack helped local police recover it quickly, safely and without damage.

On December 16th, 2013, the Honda’s owner contacted NYPD’s 34th precinct to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the NYSPIN and NCIC state and federal crime computers. The LoJack transponder concealed in the Civic, which was installed at Lia Honda in Northampton, MA, was then automatically activated.

A short time later, officers from the Bronx DA’s Auto Squad picked up the homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers tracked the Honda to a residential street in the Kingsbridge section of the Bronx, where it was parked and unoccupied. After a brief surveillance, the Civic was retrieved and eventually released to its happy owner.
