The LoJack® system helps police locate stolen cars, trucks, vans, motorcycles and construction equipment, whether they are taken across the country, or just moved to a different part of the same city. In this case, a Honda Civic stolen in Park Hill, Staten Island, NY, is recovered in that same area by police assisted by LoJack.

On November 28th, 2013, the Honda’s owner contacted the NYPD 120th precinct to report the crime. Officers verified the theft, took a written report, and entered the information into the NYPD stolen vehicle computer and the NCIC national stolen vehicle computer. The LoJack device concealed in the Civic, which was installed at Bay Ridge Honda Volvo in Brooklyn, NY, was then automatically activated.

A short while later, officers from the Staten Island Auto Larceny Unit picked up the homing signal from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. They tracked the Honda to a residential street in the Park Hill section of Staten Island, where it was parked and abandoned. After a short surveillance, they retrieved the undamaged Civic and soon returned it to its elated owner.
