The owner of a 2009 Toyota Camry discovered her car had been stolen from in front of her Chicago home early one Monday evening. Thanks to the LoJack® system she had installed when buying her vehicle, local law enforcement recovered it in just over four hours after activation.

On November 11th, 2013, the Camry’s owner contacted the Chicago Police Department (CPD). Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the LEADS/NCIC federal and local crime computers. The LoJack unit concealed in the Camry, which was installed at Oakbrook Toyota in Oakbrook, IL, was then automatically activated.

A short while later, CPD officers began picking up the homing signal from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. A CPD helicopter located the Toyota near 84th and Michigan Ave and directed ground units, who found it parked and unoccupied. The undamaged Camry was soon returned to its grateful owner.
