In this case, a Ford F-150 is stolen by a relative of the owner. It’s a good thing that the LoJack® system doesn’t differentiate between a total stranger and your best friend- if they took your car, truck, van or motorcycle without your permission, LoJack will help your local police recover your vehicle fast.

On October 31st, 2013, the Ford’s owners contacted local police to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the F-150, which was installed at Sopp Ford in Los Angeles, CA.

A short while later, officers from the southwest section of the city received the homing signal from the stolen truck on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles.  The officers began tracking the Ford and observed it traveling westbound on 40th Pl.  The officers stopped the pickup and detained the driver, who it was later determined to be the owner’s stepson. The thief had stolen the keys from the victim’s home. He was taken into custody and the F-150 was soon returned to its very relieved owner.
