The owner of the Suzuki GSI motorcycle in this case noticed it was missing late one Monday evening. In order to have the LoJack® system on his bike activated, he contacted local police, who recovered the GSI, assisted by LoJack, in less than 90 minutes.
On October 21st, 2013, the Suzuki’s owner contacted the Lawrence Police Department to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack unit concealed in the GSI, which was installed at Motorsports International in Auburn, MA, was then automatically activated.
A short while later, officers from the Lawrence Police and Massachusetts State Troopers picked up the homing signals from the stolen bike on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers located the Suzuki behind a tenement on Pleasant Street, where it was parked and concealed under a tarp. The bike’s VIN number had also been switched. These attempts to conceal the theft might have hampered a visual search but not the LoJack system. The GSI was recovered and soon returned to its grateful owner.
