The LoJack® system assists law enforcement in the recovery of stolen cars, trucks, vans and motorcycles, even if the ‘thief’ turns out to be the vehicle’s owner, as in this recent incident in Trenton, NJ involving a Suzuki GSX1300 RZ motorcycle

On October 21st, 2013, the Suzuki’s owner contacted Trenton Police to report that his bike, along with some tools, had been stolen from a locked storage facility. Officers entered the motorcycle’s information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack unit concealed in the GSX1300 RZ, which was installed at Monmouth Cycles in Middletown, NJ, was then automatically activated.

A short time later, a detective from the New Jersey State Police Auto Unit picked up the homing signals from the stolen bike on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his unmarked police vehicle. The detective tracked the signal to the owner’s home, where the GSX1300 RZ was found in a garage behind his house, along with all the other property reported stolen from the storage locker. The owner was arrested for filing a false police report and attempt to commit insurance fraud.
