This Portland, OR resident slept in one Saturday morning, but got a rude awakening just before lunch time when he noticed his Toyota Tacoma pickup had been stolen sometime overnight. The LoJack® system he had installed when purchasing his truck helped local law enforcement recover the vehicle in just over a half hour after activation.

On October 5th, 2013, the Toyota’s owner contacted the Portland Police Bureau. Officers verified the information and entered the pickup’s VIN (vehicle identification number) into the NCIC stolen vehicle database. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Tacoma, which was installed at McCord’s Vancouver Toyota in Vancouver, WA.

A short while later, a Troutdale PD officer received the homing signal transmitting from the stolen pickup on the LoJack tracking computer in his patrol car. The officer tracked the Toyota to NW Graham Road, where it was found parked and abandoned. The Tacoma was soon returned to its very grateful owner.
