At 10:45 pm one Tuesday evening, the owner of a Suzuki GSX-R600 motorcycle discovered his vehicle missing from his sister’s home. Despite the lateness of the hour, the local police, with help from the LoJack system, were able to recover the bike in less than an hour after activation.

On July 16th, 2013, the Suzuki’s owner contacted the North Palm Beach Police to report his motorcycle stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the motorcycle’s information into the state and federal crime computers. This routine police procedure automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the GSX-R600, which was installed at Palmetto Motorsports in Hialeah, FL.

A short while later, a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO) K-9 deputy picked up the homing signal from the stolen motorcycle on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. The deputy began tracking the bike with the help of the PBSO Eagle 1 helicopter. The driver sped away from the ground deputy into a senior citizen complex, where he hid the GSX-R600 in some bushes and tried to flee on foot. As the ground officer approached the intersection, the suspect returned to the bushes and attempted to drive off. The thief was stopped and taken into custody, and the Suzuki was soon returned to its very grateful owner.
