If a retail business has a delivery vehicle stolen, the consequence to the store is not just the loss of an asset. When purchased items aren’t delivered, that means back-up of orders and very unhappy customers. This is why so many retailers choose to protect their delivery fleet with the LoJack® system, so if their cars, trucks or vans are stolen, they can get recovered by police quickly. In this case, a stolen retail delivery truck was recovered by police in just over four hours after activation.

On September 24th, 2013, a large national home improvement chain contacted Newark, NJ Police to report that a Ford F-350 delivery truck had been stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the truck.

A short time later, a patrol officer from the Irvington PD picked up the homing signals from the Ford on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. The officer located the truck, which was parked and abandoned. The undamaged F-350 was soon returned to the appreciative business.
