An Atlanta resident returned home from vacation to find that her 2011 Toyota Corolla was gone. It turns out that her vehicle was on its own ‘trip’- courtesy of a car thief- and was recovered at a residence in Denver, CO, thanks to the hard work of police assisted by the LoJack® system.

On September 5th, 2013, the Toyota’s owner contacted the Atlanta Police to report the incident. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into their state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Corolla, which was installed at Team Toyota in Lithia Springs, GA.

A short while later, officers with the Denver, CO Police picked up the homing signals from the stolen car with the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers tracked the vehicle to a private residence. The house’s occupant claimed to have recently purchased the Toyota for a few hundred dollars from a man who had said he was on a cross county trip and needed to sell the car. The Corolla was seized by police and soon returned to its grateful owner in Atlanta.
