Although we all hate when vacations end, it’s nice to get home where everything is familiar and the same as when you left. Unless, of course, something has gone wrong while you were gone- as in this case, where some Fayetteville, NC residents returned to find their 2013 Ford F-150 missing from their driveway. The LoJack® system the victims had installed in the truck when they purchased it just six months ago proved to be a good investment, since it helped local police recover the stolen pickup that same day.

On September 15th, 2013, the Ford’s owner contacted Fayetteville PD to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack unit concealed in the F-150, which was installed at Crown Ford in Fayetteville, NC, was then automatically activated.

A short while later, deputies from the Hoke County Sheriff’s Office received the homing signals from the stolen pickup on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The deputies tracked the vehicle onto the Fort Bragg Military Base training grounds off King Road. The Ford F-150 was approximately 100 yards off the highway in a heavily wooded area. Fort Bragg Military Police were called to assist. The F-150 was recovered and soon returned to its relieved owners.
