A 2008 Nissan Altima was stolen from the owner’s Newark, NJ home in this case. She had parked it across the street from her residence and discovered it gone around 7 a.m. the next morning, which gave her a much bigger headache than the morning traffic. The LoJack® system she had installed in her car when purchasing it helped make the situation a little better, helping local law enforcement recovered the Altima in less than three hours after activation.

On September 9th, 2013, the Nissan’s owner contacted Newark Police to report that her vehicle had been stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack unit, which was installed at Hudson Nissan in Jersey City, NJ, was then automatically activated.

A short time later, a patrol officer from Newark PD picked up the homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. The officer tracked the vehicle to a housing complex on Bergen Street where he found the Nissan parked and abandoned. The undamaged Altima was soon returned to its grateful owner.
