When the Dallas, TX resident in this case discovered his Yamaha YZF-R6 motorcycle missing from his apartment complex lot one Wednesday morning, he was probably glad he had the LoJack® system installed when he bought his bike. It proved to be a wise investment, as his local police, assisted by LoJack, recovered the vehicle that same day.
On September 11th, 2013, the Yamaha’s owner contacted Dallas Police to report that his bike was stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This action automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the YZF-R6, which was installed at Central Yamaha in Plano, TX.
A short while later, officers from the Dallas PD picked up the homing signals from the stolen motorcycle on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers tracked the Yamaha to the garage of a private home. During the warranted search, officers also found illegal pills, a gun and an alligator in an aquarium. The two occupants of the house were arrested. The alligator was taken into custody by animal control. The YZF-R6, which had some ignition damage, was soon returned to its relieved owner.
