The LoJack® System Helps Houston, Texas Police Recover Stolen Dodge R15 Super Cab 4×4 Truck

It’s a scary thought to imagine someone stealing your vehicle from your own driveway while you’re sleeping. The Pasadena, TX resident in this case had this happen on a Friday the 13th, when he awoke to find his Dodge R15 Super Cab 4×4 missing from his residence. However, his luck wasn’t all bad on this dubious date, because the LoJack® system he purchased when he bought his pickup helped local police recover it that same day.
On September 13th, 2013 the Dodge’s owner contacted the Pasadena Police and reported the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack device concealed in the pickup, which was installed at Custom Vans of Houston, TX, was then automatically activated.
A short while later, an officer from the Houston PD, a Texas DPS State Trooper, and a Houston PD auto theft officer all picked up the homing signals from the stolen truck on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers tracked the Dodge to an apartment complex parking lot, where the truck was backed in and the front plate removed- a visual ploy that did not fool the LoJack system. After a brief surveillance, two subjects entered the truck and tried to drive away. Officers stopped the truck and both suspects were taken into custody. The R15 was soon returned to its grateful owner.
