When the LoJack® system is activated on a stolen car, truck, van or motorcycle, the activation is country-wide, meaning that if the vehicle is moved to another state, if there’s LoJack coverage there, the system in the vehicle will be activated- as in this case, where a Honda CBR600RR motorcycle stolen in Virginia is recovered by police assisted by LoJack that same day in Maryland.

On September 6th, 2013, the Honda’s owner contacted the Fairfax, VA Police to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure which automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the CBR600RR, which was installed at the Motorcycle Factory Inc. in Woodbridge, VA.

Within a short period of time, officers from the United States Park Police Department picked up homing signals from the motorcycle on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers tracked the Honda to the Baltimore Washington Parkway where the bike was observed traveling northbound. The driver fled upon seeing law enforcement. Howard County, MD police eventually recovered the CBR600RR parked and abandoned on Annapolis Road. The undamaged Honda was soon returned to its grateful owner.
