A piece of construction equipment is stolen over a weekend, moved to another town 30 minutes away, and still recovered in less than an hour and a half after activation, thanks to local law enforcement assisted by the LoJack® system.

On August 6th, 2013, the owner of a 2011 Caterpillar 259-B skid steer loader contacted the Boca Raton Police to report that the skid steer, along with the trailer used to transport it, was stolen from a job site where it was dropped off the previous weekend. The responding officer prepared a stolen vehicle report and had the vehicle’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack transponder concealed in the skid steer was then automatically activated.

A short while later, a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office deputy and an auto theft detective picked up the silent LoJack homing signal from the stolen equipment on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. They tracked the skid steer to South Haverhill Road, where it was located still sitting on the trailer. The Caterpillar was soon returned to its grateful owner.
