The stolen Suzuki GSX-R600 in this case was hidden under a motorcycle cover by the thief, which would have thwarted law enforcement if they were performing a visual search. However, the LoJack® system was not deterred by this maneuver, since it sends its signal via radio frequency, so police were able to recover the bike in less than two hours after activation.

On August 9th, 2013, the Suzuki’s owners contacted the Broward County Sheriff’s Office to report their vehicle stolen. The responding officer prepared a stolen vehicle report and had the vehicle’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers. This automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the motorcycle, which was installed at Central Florida Powersports in Kissimmee, FL.

A short while later, a BCSO Office deputy picked up the homing signal from the Suzuki on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. The deputy called for backup and located the bike, hidden under a motorcycle cover, parked and abandoned in an apartment complex lot. The owners were overjoyed to get their GSX-R600 back so quickly.
