You would think that the safest place to park your car should be at your residence. The Oakland, CA resident in this case found out otherwise when his Honda Accord was stolen from his driveway one Tuesday evening. The victim was enough to protect himself and his car by having the LoJack® system installed upon purchase, so his local police were able to recover his vehicle in less than 90 minutes after activation.

On July 18th, 2013, the Honda’s owner contacted Oakland Police to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Accord, which was installed at Dublin Honda in Dublin, CA.

A short while later, the Alameda County Sheriff’s Department and Oakland Police picked up the homing signals from the Honda with the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. Officers located the stolen car parked and abandoned on the street in South Oakland. The undamaged Accord was soon returned to its very relieved owner.
