When a company in Orlando, FL had a Boydstun Metal Works auto carrier stolen from their place of business, the management was very glad that there was a LoJack® system installed on it. Local police were able to track the carrier down and recover it that same day.

On August 8th, 2013, the machine’s owner contacted the Orange County Sheriff’s Office to report it stolen. The responding officer verified the theft and entered the auto carrier’s information into the state and federal crime computers. This routine police procedure automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Boydstun.

A short time later, a Medley, FL police officer picked up the homing signal from the stolen auto carrier on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. Since the officer was outside of his jurisdiction, he had his dispatcher contact the Miramar PD, who tracked the trailer to a storage facility just southeast of US 27. The auto carrier was soon returned to its relieved owners.
