Here’s a sound you never want to wake up to- someone starting your motorcycle and riding it out of your driveway! This occurred to the owner of a Yamaha YZF R-1 in Monrovia, CA recently. It’s a good thing the bike’s owner had the LoJack® system installed just five months previously- local police using LoJack were able to recover the vehicle in just 11 minutes.

On August 5th, 2013, the Yamaha’s owner contacted Monrovia, CA Police to report the crime. Monrovia PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the motorcycle, which was installed at Bert’s Mega Mall in Covina, CA.

Just a few minutes later, Azusa PD officers picked up the homing signal from the Yamaha on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers tracked the bike to the area of Barbara St and 1st in Azusa and located it parked in front of a residence. The YZF R-1 was soon returned to its happy owner.
