This case involves a Honda CBR600 motorcycle discovered stolen from the owner’s home in Seattle, WA, on a Sunday evening. The owner had been away from the residence for 18 hours, so police did not know the exact time the bike was taken; but the LoJack® system helped officers locate it in less than a half hour after activation.

On July 14th, 2013, the Honda’s owner contacted Seattle Police. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle identification number into the state and federal crime computers. That process automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the motorcycle, which was installed at Hinshaw’s Motorcycle Store in Auburn, WA.

Just a few minutes later, a Seattle PD officer received the homing signal from the stolen bike on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. He located the bike at NE 73rd Street & 9th Avenue, where the Honda was parked and abandoned under a cover. The cover hid the bike from sight, but not from LoJack. The CBR600 was soon returned to its grateful owner, who told police this was the second time the bike had been stolen and recovered with LoJack.
