The Charlotte, NC residents in this case arrived home on vacation to some bad news- their Suzuki GSX-R600 motorcycle had been stolen while they were away. The good news is that they had a LoJack® system installed on the bike, so police were able to recover and return it to its rightful owner.

On July 16th, 2013, the Suzuki’s owners contacted the Charlotte-Mecklenburg, NC Police Department (CMPD) to report that their motorcycle was stolen. The victims stated that the keys to the bike had been missing and while they were away for the past 10 days, the motorcycle had been taken from a parking lot. CMPD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack unit concealed in the Suzuki, which was installed at Charlotte Honda in Charlotte, NC, was then automatically activated.

A short while later, flight deputies from the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department in Goldsboro, NC picked up the homing signals from the motorcycle on the LoJack tracking computer installed in their helicopter. The deputies tracked the bike to a residential neighborhood in Nashville, NC, and alerted ground units. In an outbuilding on the property, inspectors found the Suzuki and another stolen motorcycle. The GSX-R600 was soon returned to its thrilled owners, who stated this was the second time it had been stolen and recovered, thanks to police and LoJack.
