In this case, police track down a stolen Suzuki GSX-R1000 motorcycle and not only locate the bike, but find more stolen motorcycles and a ‘chop shop’ operation as well.

On July 12th, 2013, the Suzuki’s owners contacted the Montgomery County Police to report that their motorcycle was stolen. MCPD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers.  The LoJack transponder concealed in the Suzuki, which was installed at Cycle USA in Silver Spring, MD, was then automatically activated.

A short while later, detectives from the MCPD Auto Theft Unit picked up the homing signals from the Suzuki on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The detectives tracked the bike to Southlawn Lane in Rockville, where they discovered an illegal body shop where the stolen Suzuki was in the process of being dismantled. Four other stolen motorcycles were discovered on the premises, as well as some firearms. The total value of all five recovered bikes was $54,700. The Suzuki was soon returned to its relieved owners.
