This case involves air and ground units of the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) combining forces, with assistance from the LoJack® system, to recover a stolen Acura MDX in just 14 minutes after activation.

On July 2nd, 2013, the Acura’s owners contacted Los Angeles Police Department- Devonshire Division to report that their vehicle was stolen. LAPD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Acura, which was installed at Cush Acura Kearny Mesa in San Diego, CA.

Just a few minutes later, LAPD Air 10 flight officers picked up the homing signal from the MDX on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their air units. The flight officers tracked the vehicle to the area of Granger and Ludlow. Ground patrol officers from LAPD-Devonshire responded and conducted a traffic stop, arresting one suspect. The Acura was soon returned to its very happy owners.
