The Chicago, IL resident in this case discovered his Yamaha motorcycle missing from his home just before midnight. Thanks to his local law enforcement and the LoJack® system, the undamaged bike was recovered in just three and a half hours after activation.

On June 19th, 2013, the owner of a 2008 Yamaha YZX R600 contacted Chicago Police after discovering his motorcycle missing from his residence’s parking lot in Chicago’s South Loop Area. Chicago PD verified the theft and entered the bike’s information into the LEADS/NCIC state and federal crime computers. This automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Yamaha, which was installed at Chicago Cycle Inc., in Lincolnwood, IL.

A short while later, Illinois State Police (ISP) began picking up the homing signal from the YZX R600 on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. Officers discovered the bike parked and unattended near the corner of 44th and Federal. The undamaged Yamaha was soon returned to its owner, who told police that his neighbor had his motorcycle stolen from the same lot just a couple of weeks earlier and had not gotten his bike back. “He should have gotten a LoJack!” the happy customer stated.
