The Oakland Park, FL resident in this case was hoping to sell his Kawasaki ZX600 when a potential customer ‘testing the shifting of the gears’ took off on the bike without paying for it. Apparently the seller never got the chance to inform the ‘buyer’ that the LoJack® system was installed on the motorcycle, so local law enforcement was able to end his extended ‘test drive’ in a little over two hours.

On June 12th, 2013, the Kawasaki’s owner immediately contacted the Broward County Sheriff’s Office to report that his bike was stolen. The responding officer verified the theft and entered the Kawasaki’s information into the state and federal crime computers. This automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the ZX600, which was installed at Beach Motorsports Corp. in Pembroke Pines, FL.

A short while later, a Broward County Sheriff’s Office deputy, picked up the homing signal from the motorcycle on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. The officer located the ZX600 at a private home owned by a friend of the thief.  Police convinced the homeowner to contact the suspect and get him to return. When the “buyer” arrived, he was promptly arrested.  The owner of the bike was very relieved to have his Kawasaki recovered so fast.
