A convertible is a fun vehicle to drive around in during the warm summer months. The thieves in this case must agree, because they stole a BMW 330Ci convertible in Philadelphia, PA recently. What the thieves were not aware of was the LoJack® system concealed in the car, which allowed local law enforcement to recover the vehicle in a little over a half hour after activation.

On June 26th, 2013, the BMW’s owner discovered his car missing and contacted Philadelphia Police. The responding officer verified the theft and entered the car’s information into the Philadelphia Police Computer System and the Pennsylvania State Police Computer. The LoJack unit concealed in the 330CI, which was installed at Braman Motor Cars in West Palm Beach, FL, was then automatically activated.

A short while later, the homing signal from the 330Ci was received by both investigators with the Philadelphia Police Major Crimes Auto Squad and the Philadelphia PD. Officers tracked the vehicle to Orianna Street where it was parked and unoccupied. The BMW was recovered and soon returned to its very happy owner.
