There are lots of scary noises that can wake you up in the middle of the night, but one of the scariest is hearing your vehicle being driven away without your permission. This Newark, CA resident was a little less scared because he had the LoJack® System installed when he purchased his 2009 Toyota Camry, so local law enforcement tracked it down quickly and returned it to its owner with no damage.

Late in the evening of June 21st, 2013, the Toyota’s owner awoke to hear his car being driven from his home.  He immediately contacted Newark Police, who verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack unit concealed in the Camry, which was installed at Hamer Toyota in Mission Hills, CA, was then automatically activated.

A short while later, Oakland Police picked up the homing signals from the Toyota with the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers located the stolen car in an industrial area of south Oakland where it was parked and abandoned behind a closed business.  The undamaged Camry was soon returned to its very relieved owner.
