A convenience store employee in South Bend, WA found herself very inconvenienced when a customer helped himself to her car keys and stole her Toyota Camry. She was glad she had the LoJack® system installed when she purchased her car, so local law enforcement was able to track it down in a little over an hour.

On June 18th, 2013, the Camry’s owner contacted South Bend Police to report the crime. Officers entered the car’s VIN (vehicle identification number) into the state and federal crime computers. That process automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Camry, which was installed at Toyota of Nashua, NH.

A short time later, a Lakewood PD officer received the homing signal transmitting from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol car.  The officer located the car at a public library parking lot, and notified detectives with the ACE (Auto Crimes Enforcement) Task Force who set up surveillance. The suspect came out of the library, got in the car and attempted to leave.  He was immediately arrested.  The undamaged Toyota was soon returned to its happy owner.
