This next case proves a rule we mention often, but it does bear repeating- don’t leave your vehicle running and unattended.  No matter where you are- at home, at a friend’s, at a gas station or convenience store- you never know when someone could be watching and waiting for the chance to steal your car, truck, van or motorcycle. The victim in this next case was lucky that he had the LoJack® system installed in his Chevy Tahoe so local law enforcement were able to retrieve it for him.

On June 3rd, 2013, the Chevrolet’s owner contacted the Union, NJ Police to report that his vehicle had been stolen. The customer left his vehicle running in his driveway, went into his house, and when he came out it was gone. Union PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Tahoe, which was installed at Nutley Chevrolet in Nutley, NJ.

A short time later, an Irvington, NJ police officer picked up the homing signals from the SUV on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. The officer tracked the vehicle to a shopping mall on Springfield Ave. As the officer approached the vehicle, the occupants exited the vehicle and fled on foot. The undamaged Tahoe was soon returned to its grateful owner.
