In this case, a missing motorcycle is tracked by law enforcement, with help from the LoJack® system, in only 92 minutes after activation.

On Monday, May 13th, 2013, the owner of a Honda VT 750 Shadow contacted the Coral Gables police to report that their motorcycle was stolen from their backyard. The owner claimed he had parked the Honda the previous evening. When he returned from doing some errands he saw his motorcycle cover on the ground and the bike was gone. The responding officer entered the Honda’s information into the state and federal crime computers. This automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Shadow, which was installed at Rick Case Cycles in Davie, FL.

A short while later, a Miami-Dade police officer picked up the homing signal from the motorcycle on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. He located the motorcycle beneath a carport near N.W. 11th Avenue and 136th Street. The property owner stated that he owned a motorcycle repair shop, and the Honda’s owner had given him the VT 750 to repair. The police recovered the bike and returned it to its owner, who later told police he ‘remembered’ that he had left his Honda with the property owner to have some damages repaired. When he was unable to contact the mechanic, he reported the bike stolen.
