Imagine waking up in the middle of the night to the sound of your car being driven away by someone else. It’s a pretty scary scenario and could happen to anyone. Luckily, the San Jose, CA resident in this case was thinking ahead when he purchase his 2009 Toyota Corolla and had the LoJack® System installed, so his local police were able to track it down in a little over an hour.

In the early morning hours of May 27th, 2013, the Corolla’s owner called the Santa Clara Sheriff’s Department to report the theft. SCSD officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into their state and federal crime computers. This automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle, which was installed at Fremont Toyota in Fremont CA.

A short while later, California Highway Patrol officers picked up the homing signals from the Toyota with the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. CHP officers quickly located the stolen Toyota abandoned on a side street in San Jose.  The undamaged Corolla was soon returned to its very grateful owner.
