What is your preferred way to wake up in the morning? It could be a couple of cups of coffee, a cold shower, or a hearty breakfast. A not-so-preferred morning event that will definitely wake you up is exiting your home to go to work and finding your vehicle missing. This happened to a Paterson, New Jersey resident recently when her Acura RSX was not where she had parked it the previous evening. However, she was smart enough to have had the LoJack® system installed when she purchased her Acura, giving her local police a great advantage in tracking down her car.

On May 21st, 2013, the Acura’s owner contacted the Paterson, NJ Police Department to report that her vehicle had been stolen. The customer told police that she last saw her vehicle parked in front of her house about 10 pm on the previous evening. Paterson PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into their state and federal crime computers The LoJack unit concealed in the RSX, which was installed at Acura of Ramsey, NJ, was then automatically activated.

A short time later, a patrol officer from the Essex County Sheriff’s Department picked up the homing signals coming from the Acura on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. The officer tracked the vehicle to Lyons Ave in Newark, where the RSX was recovered, parked and undamaged. It was soon returned to its very relieved owner.
