Here is another case where a stolen vehicle was found parked and unoccupied. Why does this happen so often? This is because car thieves are aware of how the LoJack® system operates, and they would rather have their ‘ill-gotten gains’ tracked down by police when they are nowhere around.

On May 6th, 2013, the owner of a 2007 Toyota Camry contacted the Virginia Beach, VA Police to report that their vehicle was stolen. Virginia Beach PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into their state and federal crime computers. The LoJack unit concealed in the Toyota, which was installed at Plaza Auto Mall in Brooklyn, NY, was then automatically activated.

Within a short period of time of the activation, officers from the Norfolk, VA police picked up the homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. Officers tracked the signal to Northampton Blvd. in Norfolk, VA, where they located the vehicle parked and unoccupied. Police recovered the undamaged vehicle and soon returned it to its grateful owner.
