On April 2nd, 2013 the owners of a 2010 Caterpillar skid steer loader contacted the North Charleston, North Carolina Police Department to report that their commercial vehicle was stolen from their business location.

The North Charleston PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into their crime computers. This automatically activated the LoJack® device installed in the Caterpillar loader by Sea Lynn Marine in Wellington, FL.

A short while later, an officer and pilot from Richland County Sheriff’s Office picked up the homing signals from the Caterpillar on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their police helicopter. They were able to track the machine to a residence close to the county lines of both Newberry County and Lexington County. Police ground units were alerted, and the skid steer loader was recovered hidden behind a barn, a diversionary tactic that might fool the naked eye, but not the LoJack System!   The loader was recovered intact and undamaged, and was quickly returned to its owners.
