On February 11, 3013, Ryder Leasing reported a 2007 Freightliner Tractor and trailer stolen to the Cordele Police Department and that the truck had been a failure to return in South Georgia. Cordele Police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the truck.

Within ten minutes, officers with the Clayton County Sheriff’s Department began receiving a silent LoJack homing signal from the stolen truck on the Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the officers tracked the vehicle to the Georgia State Farmer’s Market, where the stolen truck and a driver were located. The driver was unaware that the truck was an overdue lease from his company, so the officers released him but impounded the truck for return to Ryder Leasing.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the truck in 2006 at Ryder Leasing.
