On January 4, 2013 the owner of a 2012 Toyota Corolla contacted the Houston Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from their residential driveway during the previous night.

Officers with the Houston Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Toyota Corolla

A short while later, officers from Houston Police Department picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen Toyota Corolla on the Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the officers tracked the Corolla to a corner convenience store. There, they located the vehicle, parked and abandoned behind the store.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Toyota Corolla on September 20, 2012 at Fred Haas Toyota in Spring, Texas.
