On the morning of December 4, 2012, the owner of a 2009 Kawasaki ZX600 motorcycle contacted the Schertz Police Department to report that his motorcycle was stolen from his designated parking spot in his apartment complex sometime during the previous night.

Schertz Police verified the theft and entered the Kawasaki’s information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the motorcycle.

A short while later, officers from the San Antonio Police Department picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen Kawasaki motorcycle on the Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the officers tracked the motorcycle to a large open field, where the bike had been abandoned. Officers believe it was a case of “joy riding”. The motorcycle was returned to the grateful owner with only minor damage.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Kawasaki motorcycle at Woods Cycle Country in New Braunfels, Texas, in September of 2010.
