On November 21, 2012, the owner of a 2008 Suzuki M109R motorcycle contacted the Boca Raton Police Department to report that the motorcycle was stolen. According to sources, the owner left his motorcycle at a Boca Raton motorcycle repair shop, and it was moved out of the shop for display in front of the store. Apparently, someone left the key in the ignition, and the motorcycle was driven away. When the shop owner discovered the motorcycle missing, he contacted the bike owner, who reported the theft to the police.

The responding officer prepared a stolen vehicle report and theft affidavit and had the motorcycle’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers. This police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the motorcycle.

A short while later, a trooper with the Florida Highway Patrol picked up the silent LoJack homing signal from the stolen motorcycle on his on-board LoJack Police Tracking computer (PTC). Following the directional and audible cues on their PTC’s screen, the trooper, along with backup, located the motorcycle in the Amtrak station on Hollywood Boulevard and I-95. The vehicle was recovered, parked, abandoned and in excellent condition. The motorcycle was processed for evidence, released to the owner at the scene, and removed from federal and state crime computer systems.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Suzuki M109R motorcycle on October 14, 2008 at Riva Motorsports in Pompano Beach, Florida and has been protecting it ever since.
