On October 22, 2012, the owner of a 2007 Suzuki GSXR1000 motorcycle contacted the Houston Police Department to report that the vehicle was stolen from his residence in Houston, Texas.

Houston Police verified the theft and entered the Suzuki’s information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the motorcycle. A short while later, a deputy from the Harris County Sheriff’s Department picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen motorcycle on the Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the deputy tracked the bike to a residential area located near Beltway North and Wilson Road. The deputy was able to identify the residence with the strongest signal using the PTC in his vehicle, approached the owner of the residence and obtained consent to search the garage. Upon entering the garage, the deputy observed the motorcycle and made a positive identification. The motorcycle was seized, and the investigation was turned over to the Harris County Auto Theft Task Force. The motorcycle received only minor damage.

One suspect was arrested for the theft, pending charges presented to the grand jury.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Suzuki GSXR1000 motorcycle in May of 2009 at Stubbs 59 Powersport.
