Kawasaki Motorcycle Stolen in Gaithersburg Recovered, Thanks to LoJack

On July 24, 2012, the owner of a 2011 Kawasaki ZX-1000 motorcycle contacted the Montgomery County Police Department to report that their motorcycle was stolen from the 500 Block of South Frederick Avenue in Gaithersburg, Maryland. The motorcycle was valued at over $9,000 at the time of theft.

Montgomery County Police verified the theft and entered the vehicle’s information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Kawasaki.

Within minutes, detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department picked up the Kawasaki’s silent LoJack homing signals on the Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the detectives tracked the vehicle to the 400 block of Palm Tree Drive in Gaithersburg, Maryland. There, the officers located the unoccupied stolen Kawasaki concealed under a tarp. Detectives recovered the stolen Kawasaki and notified the owner.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Kawasaki motorcycle in April, 2011at J.T. Motorsports Inc. in Frederick, Maryland.
